Tengu is one of the most famous figures in Japanese folklore. It is usually depicted as a mountain hermit with a strikingly red face and a long nose – which symbolizes pride and a large ego. In Japanese, it is sometimes said that when someone’s “nose grows,” they have become a Tengu. According to legend, these supernatural creatures also have the ability to fly.
This embroidered patch is inspired by the world of Hyakki-yako, the nighttime procession of yokai – Japanese spirits and supernatural beings. Thanks to the detailed embroidery, the patch has a distinctive character, and an interesting detail is the white thread that glows softly in the dark.
The patch comes from Japan and can be easily stuck or ironed onto clothing, a backpack, or a bag.
