In Taiwan, distinctive railing systems featuring ball joints can be found almost everywhere – in parks, sports centres, on pavements, in private institutions and at airports. It was precisely their understated details and simple structural design that caught the eye of designer yangshueiyuan, who, in his first publication Railing, combines street photography, 3D modelling and documentation of the entire process, from initial designs through to production. The book demonstrates that inspiration for good design can be found even in the most ordinary things around us.
