Fromages is an imaginary cellar full of cheeses, depicted in 200 drawings by the French artist Jochen Gerner. Created using pigmented ink pens on school exercise books, the drawings depict cheeses ranging from Roquefort and Munster, through Tomme de Savoie, Époisses and Comté, to Cantal and Babybel. The grid pattern, layering of lines and combination of colours give each cheese its own structure, texture and character. The drawings were created between March 2025 and April 2026 during Gerner’s culinary and geographical journeys, and together they form a colourful portrait of cheeses, their textures, aromas and flavours.
